The Institute of Neurosciences, joint center of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) and the Superior Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), has organized a seminar on «Different relationships between different neurons and the overall population in the sensory cerebral cortex«. Researcher at University College London (UK) Kenneth Harris give a talk tomorrow Friday, February 20, at 12:30 pm in the Auditorium Building Ramón y Cajal Campus Sant Joan d’Alacant. The coordinator of this activity is the researcher Miguel Maravall.

Professor Harris is an expert in the organization and function of neuronal activity in the cerebral cortex. This is the most evolutionarily advanced brain region and where percepts are created, decisions are made, memories are stored and interrelate the various aspects of our experience. Professor Kenneth Harris investigates how different cortical neurons involved in this process and how to interact. This allows to incorporate contextual changes to the processing of stimuli received from abroad as, for example, in the state of attention and motivation of the individual. Professor Harris has developed his teaching and research career in various US institutions and the United Kingdom as Rutgers University, Imperial College, University College London.
