The Neurosciences Institute, Joint Center in the Masters in Neuroscience from the Miguel Hernández (UMH) University of Elche and the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) is developed, organized the seminar «Enhancing Long-term phenomenon function», to be held today Wednesday, October 8, at 12:30 pm in the Auditorium building Santiago Ramón y Cajal, campus de Sant Joan d’Alacant.

The talk will be given by a member of the National Institute for Medical Research in London (UK) Tim Bliss. The seminar is coordinated by the director of the Institute of Neurosciences, Juan Lerma.

Tim Bliss is a scientific world-renowned for his research to understanding the neuroscientific basis of learning and memory. He was also co-author of a pioneering publication in 1973 that showed the changes that occur in neuronal communication, a phenomenon that is now recognized as the functional basis of how the brain stores memories. This discovery has been key to understanding learning, memory and the brain’s ability to modify its response under new conditions.

The Institute of Neuroscience has received yesterday the talk «Dissecting kinetic components of short-term synaptic plasticity: an emerging computing architecture of the presynaptic terminals.» The seminar was taught the fellow at the Center for Applied Medical Research, University of Navarra: John Wesseling.
